Subject: Is my metabolism slowing down?
When I started to change my eating habits from your standard couch potato (McDs and fast food) to that of a reasonable healthy adult, I was struggling to make it 2-3 hours between meals. In fact, I recently posed the question about eating to sustain satiety.

Well, in the past 2 weeks, my level of hunger has dropped to the point that I no longer crave my between meal snacks. I eat my normal breakfast of smart start and OJ then I'm solid until I have a sandwich at lunch. After lunch, around 3-4pm I would get really hungry and need a snack, but recently I've been good to go until about 6pm when it is time for dinner.

I've done really well to drop weight so far and am afraid that my weight loss will plateau if my metabolism starts to drop.

Thanks
Shaun

In some of the readings I've done, eating several small meals a day (6 or more) helps keep your metabolism up.  I've lost 90 lbs over the past decade and I think part of this is due to the fact that I eat whenever I get hungry.  I also keep my meals small so that Ican snack when I feel like it.  I can also tell you that my metabolism has increased greatly since I've been an athlete.  An active lifestyle can not be beat!

so, should I reduce my primary meal size until I bring it back down to the 3-4 hour hunger frequency?

Looks like you are eating more healthy food as oppose to refined food. Healthy food keeps you feeling full longer.

I think you would have better results if you took your total daily calories (whatever that amount is that you have determined you need) and spread them over 5 or 6 smaller meals.  Shooting to get carbs, protein and (healthy) fat in each meal.  There are several good books out on the subject - you should put a call out for some titles from the other BTer's.  Sometimes it's easier to use a specific plan until you get very comfortable going it on your own, since it can be a little complicated at first if you really want to eat for maximum performance and healthy weight loss.  Just my 2c on the subject.
