Comments: Went a little to fast on the first 5K, took a bit of a rest between 3.5 and 4mi to chat with someone going a bit slower than me, then tried to talk myself into keeping my first 5K pace for the rest of the race. Didn't happen but I stayed sub 10:00 the whole way and didn't really feel bad, so am thrilled. The distance was easy, and I had some music with me which was just perfect to take me through the race. What would you do differently?: Nothing. This was a great first 10K. Post race
Warm down: Wandered about, ate a banana, drank some Accelerade. What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing, this is exactly where I should be for a 10K pace. Event comments: This was a tiny race, about 90 people, but it was the first year for it. For its first year, it's very impressive -- well organized, well marked course, lots of volunteers, 3 aid stations with plenty of drinks, plenty of food. Good job, SKiO! Looking forward to this race next year. Oh, and for the record, all three men who placed in the 70+ age group beat my time by at least 5 minutes. Last updated: 2005-10-22 12:00 AM

New pre-race nutrition: Powerbar Protein Plus...the whey protein doesn't upset my stomach when I run 2 hours or less after eating, which is a big deal for me. Then scramble to get to the race which is 10 minutes away by boat (which I don't have) and 45 minutes away by car.
Light jogging.
