Subject: Hello
Hi everyone,
Well I am a college student who has found myself being lazy a little bit too often lately. I just recently made the Varsity rowing team at my school and was unable to participate because the NCAA Clearinghouse didn't clear my transfer so I couldn't compete. After being extreamly upset about the situation I have been on a search to find a goal to strive for. I figured that my amazing 32 year old cousin (with 3 kids, might i add) has completed 3 triathalons, so I might as well set my goal before I get too deep into the lazy rut. I live in Ohio and I'm looking for a small group of beginners to start training with so please e-mail me with any suggestions!

Stephanie

p.s. this site is amazing!

Welcome Stephanie! Congradulations for picking Tri for your next adventure.

I live in south eastern Ohio and frequently train with a small group(4-6). The group is focused on running, but some also bike nearly every weekend when the weather is good enough. The bike group usually rides between 30 and 55 miles on moderately hills averaging anywhere from 14 to 17 mph on average, depending on how people feel. There are two of us that swim occasionally, but mainly by ourselves. The level of running ability for the 4.9 mile loop that we normally run ranges from a time of 30:30 to about 42:00. In general the group is really laid back with only a few being aggressive competitors. If you, or anyone else is close to the Gallipolis area, feel free to contact me and I'll give you details of where and when we meet.

Subject: Ohio Race Gathering??
Racing with people from here sounds fun. I know that probably nobody is at exactly the same level, but it would still be nice to know that there are other people racing that you can relate to. I would propose something around central ohio, only because that would be close to equidistance for people from Cleveland area, Cincinnati area, Toledo area and BFE where I am. HFP has combination events next year that include sprint and international (I think Olympic) in one race. Close to central are Deer Creek (Sprint/International Du and Tri) at Mount Sterling June 6 , and Wendy's International (1/2, 18, 3.1) at (NE Columbus I think) Alum Creek on June 27.

Just some ideas...

Craig
