Age Group Rank = 14/24
Swim
  • 12m 13s
  • 547 yards
  • 02m 14s / 100 yards
Comments:

I need to improve my swim technique
What would you do differently?:

I would swim steadier. I missed the start button on my stopwatch and didn't know my swim time. I didn't realize I was so close to my goal time. Would have made T1 quicker, but my heart rate never settled on the bike.
Transition 1
  • 01m 53s
Comments:

Since I thought my swim time was so slow, I took it way too easy in T1.
What would you do differently?:

I would take more focus on what I am doing and be more deliberate in my actions. I would move quicker in T1.
Bike
  • 35m 30s
  • 12.5 miles
  • 21.13 mile/hr
Comments:

I still think I was the fastest of those not on a Tri/TT bike or good road bike
What would you do differently?:

Settle the heart rate early.
Transition 2
  • 02m 2s
Comments:

Have better focus. I took my cycling shoes off and the mistakenly put them back on instead of my running shoes. I struggled with easy stuff.
What would you do differently?:

focus and do it with a purpose
Run
  • 26m 13s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 08m 26s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran comfortably, could have run longer at that pace but I don't know if I could have run harder and held it to the finish. I ran the right way for how the swim and bike went and how the heart rate was feeling.
What would you do differently?:

Drink better on the run, keep stride rate up.
Post race
Warm down:

Finished! Drank fluids Xs Power Nutrition and Water. Stretched. Got a post race massage - need to do that again!!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

My heart rate too high coming out of the water and on the bike. I need to build confidence to run the distance faster. A better training plan could improve the confidence and focus.

Good race and a great report. I enjoy reading tri reports and they are few and far between right now. What kind of bike do you ride, 21mph is impressive on any bike. Thanks for sharing it.

Thanks! Right now I am riding an old (1990) Miyata TripleCross. I have dreams of finding the right bike for me but for now doing the best I can with what I have.
