Subject: I will Tri in 2004
One sport I have always wanted to do was a triathlon. Every since I saw the Ironman in Hawaii on TV when I was 10. Well I did compete in sports through High School and I was on the rowing team in college. However, distance running has never been a favorite, although I did run a 10K last May for the first time (first time I had even run over 4 miles at once) and biking really never an option. Swimming in a race worries me but I can swim. So, I have decided to not wait any longer and I WILL compete in 2004 somewhere. I am thinking about trying to find a Sprint someplace close. I have from now until probably June or July to get into shape. I hope to get some good insights into trainging from this site. I don't have a buddy, mine think I am nuts, to train with so this site should help keep me connected to others going through what I will be. I hope to talk to you all soon.

Well, you're nobuddy til somebuddy loves you. Or so the song goes. All my buddies thought the tri was a great idea, but none of them managed to do any training and show up on race day. This site is great for moral support AND practical knowledge.
For 2004, the Warsaw/Winona Lake Tri is a sprint distance. So I was told by some folks I ran into at the Niles, MI tri. Maybe I'll see you there.
