Are trail shoes supposed to be much tighter on your foot than regular running shoes? I ordered some online--same brand as my regular shoes, which fit great--but in order to tie the trail shoes with the supplied laces, the shoes are so tight my feet go numb just from walking around the house. I'm afraid to try running in them and have my feet swell any.

I don't know about "supposed" to be, but when I tried on a variety of trail shoes, anything from a 9.5 to a 12  fit, depending on the model.  It was very difficult to decide - did I want it to feel snug,  loose, etc.  And of course a variety of prices.  I went with a little more snug fit than what I would normally.

My guess is if they're that tight now, they will only get worse with running in em due to your feet swelling.  Mine did stretch out a little.

Good luck.
