Subject: Any Volunteers?
Hi,
Has anyone volunteered at races. I am volunteering at the Ironman in Couer d' Alene. It's before my first race. I don't know if this will make me more nervous or get me pumped. I have never even be to watch one. I don't know what possesed mt to start doing tris. I just woke up one morning and decided, "I want to do an ironman" Looking into it further I relized I better do the Ironman after I do some other races and see if I like this sport. Training for my first race has been awesome. I already feel hooked, but we will see after my first race in July.

My wife and I volunteered at the Ralphs California Half Ironman in Oceanside this year.  It was great!!!!

We learned A LOT just from being there, watching, asking questions, etc.

Everyone was very friendly and appreciative.

And talk about getting pumped up from being in that environment!  I was able to be nearby when the overall winner came across the finish line.  That was cool.  What was even better was staying until the very end and cheering the last few people down the stretch.  Talk about seeing some folks just toughing it out.  You will stand there and say to yourself - "I can do this too".  So beware....you will find yourself with a whole new set of goals.  (Side note: I will be doing my 1st Vineman Half Ironman in August 2005 - directly a result of what I just described).

Have a great time.  Looking forward to hearing all about it.

Dan

I Volunteered at Ironman Europe(Quelle Challenge in Roth, Germany now). It was a great expereince. I learned some and was inspiered a lot. After watching, I set my goal to do an Iron man in 5 years. Now that it is five years later, I am in training for an Iron distance race.

Last year I asked my parents to volunteer at a race for my gift. It was more fun for them to do something while they were waiting for me to come by. Enjoy and cheer load.

Hi,
I love volunteering for races there is something about giving back.

I will volunteer at 2 or 3 races this year. I have 4 or 5 on my to do schedule, so I guess I will be a busy guy this summer.

You can't beat the feeling when somebody is out there struggling and you have the opportunity to make them smile and for a second forget the pain..

So thanks for going out and working the races, because the races could not happen without the countless hours put in by the volunteers.

Will be volunteering for the first time at Escape From Alcatraz. Pretty excited about it, and want to make volunteering a regular part of my season objectives.

Ready to be pumped up,
Dana!
