Hello

Any BT users in Wales? I'm in South Wales near Llanelli and it would be nice to know if there are any like minded people near me.

Hi there!

Yep, there are people out there!  I live in Swansea.  I am VERY new to the triathlon scene, having only recently started my training and left my couch!!  Have not competed a race yet, but have signed up to the mazda london trithlon next year.  I expect ypu have done quite a few triathlons, it's nice to know there are likeminded people nearby!

 Regards.

Hi

I hope your training and races went well this summer. I started training in January after a 15 year break from triathlon and completed Kalmar ironman on 1st of August. The best thing I did was join a club (Cardiff Tri) which gave me 3 coached swim classes per week and allowed me to knock off 20mins from my 3800m PB this year.

Good luck if your doing the Emilia Prosser race this weekend hope the weather improves as i'm marshalling!!!!

Cheers

Woody

Hi kelvynd,

How did cymmer go? I did the full one weather wasn't the best spent most off my time wiping my glasses from all the mud. It was really enjoyable though only came off my bike twice which was good since i haven't mountain biked for almost 2 years.

Swansea here and just completed my first tri this week. Did the MidWeek sprint tri in Neath. Looking forward to more next year and maybe even an Olympic one and also a mountain biking one too (Cymmer one sounds good).

Hi Pete,

How did the Tri go?

I done the last mid week tri i loved it. The winner was absolutely flying around. I would recommend the Cymmer one it was my first time doing a cross country tri and it was fab even though it rained all the way around. I am considering doing an Olympic distance in two weeks but haven't decided yet.

Yep enjoyed it too. Came in 33rd with a time of 1:17. The swim was a little brutal at the start with the cold water (had not been prepared for that). Was a little slow in transition but had a reasonable bike leg (28th quickest). Run was OK but the hills killed my legs so some work to do there too.

My wife also enjoyed it too (was her first one too) as did our friend who also competed for the first time that evening.

How did you do?

I done the second event and the water was like a bath but this time i was expecting the same and had quite a shock. My swim wasn't bad don't think i got punched and kick as much as last time. I was happy with my bike leg and was 29th quickest. The run was alright even though i got pasted by 1st and 2nd places on my first lap. I came 10th overall which i was chuffed with but i was more happy that i had knocked almost 3.30mins off my last time. Shows the training does work.

I think i may have ago at the Olympic one in two weeks but don't know if i fancy swimming off Port Eynon it will be really cold i think.

The sea tends to be a little warmer than lakes at this time of year so you may be pleasantly surprised. Go for it.
