Gonna be a little cold but the trees are beautiful right now in myers park.  Good luck to those running.

To those who have never done it, the first half of the course is quite pretty but crowd support is almost nill except for a small stretch on Queens Road West and at the finish.

It really bothers me that the Charlotte community basically ignores this (and most other) race in town.

Just the half.  I haven't done it since 2007 so it should be good.  I hope.

Awesome. Have fun. If you see a tall, stunningly handsome guy in a bike helmet at the Colville/Randolph turn, give me a shout.

I'll be doing the half.  First "run-only" race in nearly two years!

In the past, yes.  This year they moved it up a month.  I think they were banking on nicer weather bringing out more participants.

More spectators would be nice, too, but I'm not holding my breath!

Yeah, probably not and holding your breath while running 13.1 or 26.2 miles is probably not the best racing strategy, just sayin'.

Seriously.  I've read the hypoxic training threads.

It was actually at the request of the city.  Traffic tie ups of people trying to get to the mall for xmas shopping apparently take presidence.

I think the number for the marathon this year will be way down with the addition of  Savannah.  Savannah was like Charlotte South last weekend.  Plus it is just too close to the other big marathons around the country.  Most people will do Thunder Road full once and that will be enough.  The numbers might be up for the half though just due to time/weather.

I'll be manning the water station around mile 14 (near the Chicken Coop) and cheering on anyone doing the full.

Good luck....looks like good weather.

Interesting, yea there are a boat load of marathons this weekend and last weekend in this area.  I can see why it would be moved but having an option for a December race was nice.

Good luck to everyone!

Being so close to the Coop I can offer water, Gatoraid, fried chicken or hush puppies.

Good seeing you! Ended up with a HM PR - 1:28:56. Great day, great weather (little chilly at the start). Even the spectator support was better than it has been in the past. Rachel, congrats on your PR.

Boston Here We Come!!

Totally died after 20M but still came home in 3:08:48.  My 2013 Boston Q time is 3:15, so I'll be in even with the new fastest first registration method.  April 15th, 2013 I'll be shooting to break 3:00.
