2010 Zipp 404 / 808 Tubular Max with Conti tires (606 wheelset)

  • Shimano hub
  • Zipp skewers
  • Low miles
  • Excellent condition

I’m getting new wheels so don’t have the need for these. They’ve been strictly race wheels and I’ve used them in five events.  The Max means they have extra strength (couple of more spokes) for larger riders.

$1,800

I researched wheel prices for 2 years on ebay and last year I wrote a price guide on resale Zipp wheel prices.   You can find it at usedzipp.com.  I know this always comes to a shock to people but in general it is very hard to sell a used item for anything more than 60% of MSRP.  You would be lucky to get $1000 on these but my guess would be closer to $850-$900.  Take a look at completed auction on ebay if you don't believe me.  It might come as shock but that is reality.  Posting pictures always helps as well.  Best of luck on the sale.

I really disagree with your survey, I just sold a 2009 606 set for alot more than your survey came up with. I do agree he is asking to much for his wheels but that will be seen by how long they sit.

You sold them on here or you sold them on ebay?  And you sold them to someone you know or a complete stranger?  The data comes from over 2000+ ebay auctions that were all personally reviewed.  The highest 10% and lowest 10% were thrown out automatically and so were the ones if they were later found to be relisted.  Keep in mind I lean more towards the consumer than the seller.  The site was put together because I have seen too much buyers remorse and outright fraud.

There are always going to be highs and lows but on average this is where the data will fall.  If you sold yours for more congrats, but I would consider yourself lucky.

If you think my price is inaccurate I encourage you to check the completed listed on ebay.  I just did I see a nice new pair of rims went for $910 shipped.  Much better than $1800 used.

While your website and opinion might be an approximate guide for people looking to buy wheels, I don't think it's welcome in every thread you come across that has wheels for sale. It is also pretty obvious you are trying to direct more traffic to your site by posting in other peoples "for sale" threads.

Welcome by who? Maybe not so much by sellers but very welcome to buyers. Many buyers are not familiar with fair resale value and i get numerous messages from people praising me for saving them hundreds of dollars. Sure sellers might not be thrilled initially but the rules state clearly to expect people to chime in if the price is too high. If you don't think 1800 is too high then be my guest and purchase the wheels. Not sure why I care about driving traffic - the advertising essentially pays for the domain and hosting - don't kid yourself I don't make any money on the site and don't intend to.

I understand now! It's the praise from potential buyers you seek instead of traffic to your site. I guess it was the over abundance of Pay Per Click Ads on your page that blinded me from the truth, my apologies. Perhaps you should re-name yourself to Zipp Police, it would fit well.

Most buyers are familiar with the prices.  If they aren't, you can take comfort in the fact that you have posted this same diatribe on every forum where people are selling zipp's.  We appreciate the resource and the intent but this is a bit much.

Yes, it is your right to do this, but let these people sell their items.  If they are too expensive, nobody will buy them.  Let someone who might buy them put their two cents in with the seller, not you on every single thread.

OP - I am looking for an 808 set.  Would you sell the rear? How much?

I don't really want to keep hijacking this thread but most first-time buyers are NOT familiar with prices.   This is especially true for the first time buyer who is enticed by a friend, coach, or pro who is selling his/her equipment.   Those people are usually very disconnected with the price of an item.  The first-time buyer may feel as if they are getting a good deal because they are not familiar with the resale value of the item.  Then when they finally have that epiphany it ends up leaving a sour taste in their mouth and can affect their relationship with that friend, coach, or pro.

As for "we" - I have got numerous messages via PM asking me whether a price is a good price or not.  If these "buyers" know what a good price is then they wouldn't be asking.  If you would like to leave your email then I would be happy to forward old requests and new requests so you can answer them.

Lastly, maybe you are familiar with prices, but don't go making assumption that you can't and have not verified.  The price of these is almost twice what the average selling price is right now on eBay.  And I'm not sure why you have a problem with someone educating either buyers or sellers in regard to this matter.  I can ensure you that if sellers posted pictures of wheels for my identification that about 25% would incorrectly describe them.  The number comes from looking and verifying ebay listings.  Now how is a buyer supposed to determine a fair value if the seller can't even properly describe the wheel.

Message a moderator. Another suggestion would be "UsedZipp.com" so you can continue to try and redirect traffic to your PPC sites.
