Total Time = 1h 39m 25s
Overall Rank = 94/105
Age Group = 40-44
Age Group Rank = 7/8
Pre-race routine:

Drank protein shake dressed and drove to Versailles in the most beautiful fog I've seen in a long time. Wasn't sure the race would go! Lots of time before the race ate a 1/2 a banana w/peanut butter just before the first swimmer went off.
Was worried about my breathing so took two puffs off my inhailer when I woke up. Then one puff after the swim and one after the bike.
Boy does that up the heartbeat! My bike HR was up in the 170's from the start!
Event warmup:

Had a lot of time to wait before my swim start so spent most of it trying to loosen up my Achellies. It was quite chilly outside so borrowed a long sleeve t-shirt and I wore it on the bike and had it on my waist for the run.
Swim
  • 08m 21s
  • 400 yards
  • 02m 05s / 100 yards
Comments:

Wish I was a faster swimmer
What would you do differently?:

Register early so that I was ranked properly
Transition 1
  • 03m 5s
Comments:

faster than before, didn't put on gloves, didn't dry feet as much and that was ok
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Bike
  • 48m 34s
  • 15 miles
  • 18.53 mile/hr
Comments:

Could see Audrey up ahead but couldn't catch her. Used her as a rabbit. Caught up on the downhills, paced her on the flats and lost time on every uphill
I'm in MUCH better shape than last year and still the slowest kid on the course!
What would you do differently?:

not sure
Transition 2
  • 02m 6s
Comments:

Knee hurts like hell sitting down and standing up to do the shoes
What would you do differently?:

Might wear the brace for Memphis
Run
  • 37m 29s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 12m 03s  min/mile
Comments:

Ran better than I though I would. Again could see Audrey up ahead and tried to keep her in my sites. Lots of really awful hills that I walked. Tried to keep running when it was flat or downhill. Heartrate way up there. Don't know if I needed the inhailer but I do know that it really increases my HR!
What would you do differently?:

not be injured?
Post race
Warm down:

Ate oranges, trail mix and water, walked around until my breathing and HR were down some

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I'm slow :-(
my achillies injury :-(

Event comments:

They always do a good job!
