So I am curious if any know the TRUE size of the local lifetime fitness pools.  I am not a member at Lifetime (I am at LA Fitness), so when I go to the Indoor Tri this weekend, I would like to know if I will be swimming meters or yards.

The lifetime page says "Olympic", but to me, Olympic is 50m, and I know its not 50m.  My understanding of pools is indoor pools (high school, etc) are in yards, and outdoor pools (like your local swim club, that has a swim team) is in meters.

On one of the online "find a pool" apps I saw it listed as 25m (Troy).  I assume that based on their business model that their pools would all be standard to one another.

Flirt, I've asked the same thing at LTF and I am a member.  I do believe the Troy location in meters, but the others are yards.  No one has a true answer though.  I've asked through out the years.

Troy was the first and only club for a long time in MI, so they may have changed pool sizes up for the newer clubs.

It doesn't really matter for a fish like you...just GO HARD!

When I did one at Lifetime in Shelby Township, I was told it was a 25M pool, but it sure felt like yards (and, it was real shallow, warm and slow, and there were 2 swimmers in each lane).  Don't know if you caught it, but the folks counting lengths are advised to give a full length count at the end for anything over 1/2 way, so listen for the count down and but it to the middle for the extra count.

All of them are 25M, except the lower deck outside pool at Rochester - it's 25yds.

I've swum in 'em all. Haven't personally measured 'em, but my times are consistent, and consistent with then I go to Oakland U and swim the 25SCY and 50LCM. I'm of the belief, short of a tape measure, that they're all 25M.

Let us know how it goes -- I want to do the one in Canton (I think?) next weekend.

Yeah, not all indoor pools are yards; the Y I go to is meters. For those of you that swim in both, is it easy to tell just by looking down the length of the pool?

Not really. Eyeballing m vs. y is not as precise as I'd like it to be. Or as precise as my lap times.

I can pretty consistently hold a 21-22 second 25M, forever, and that's my go-to pace. One day the inside pool was closed or full or whatever, so I jumped in the outside pool in rochester (25y). I was lapping in 19sec, which freaked me out. About 10% difference, which is right on.

Hard to eyeball it from on-deck, but very sure about the distance swim-wise.

Got mine last month and I think all of them are 25M, except the lower deck outside pool at Rochester - it's 25yds just what the other commentator said. But I'm satisfied with that 25M size.
