as of today, the weather forecast for Saturday has changed. What was 72ish and partly sunny is now cloudy and 40% chance of rain. For some reason, even though tough the forecast was sunny last week, i resigned myself to prepare for rain. Let's hope this changes again.

Well, I decided not to make all of you look bad while I was out training this weekend, so I cut my scheduled 85M ride down to 62M! Seriously though, I was so burned out on Sunday that I couldn't see the benefit of grinding through the remaining miles at this point. I'm really just looking forward to seeing if all of this work pays off on Sunday, then getting my life back on the weekends.

I'm also loving the forecast at this point. I'm the type who completely dies running in heat, so between the forecast predicting a high in the low 70s, and the fact that I'll definitely be running later in the day, this should hopefully not be a complete death march.

I would have taken that extra 23 miles you didn't do as my ride this weekend. I had a 60 miler planned for Sunday and did nothing. With all the stuff my kids have been picking up these last few weeks, i ended up with some sort of head/chest cold/virus over the weekend and it won't go away. Slept 8-9 hours each night with an hour nap each day. I did workout yesterday and felt ok but woke up this AM feeling crappy again. enough now.

weather looks good as of now. although i don't like the fact that the wind looks to be coming from the NE at this point. That 13 mile stretch on the bottom of the map (W to E) that we do twice will go just about right into a headwind now..and it's supposed to have a tailwind. It's been like that the 2 times a rode the course this year. What's the chances its 3X?

Forecast update: 68 and partly sunny. 10% chance of rain. Winds 13 mph from the north.

Not a big fan of the northerly wind. Should increase chop on the swim. Also is going to make for a decent cross wind on the bike. But that temp should help make for some good performances hopefully.

So if anyone is up for meeting up at some point Saturday, lets work that out. I think i'm going to suggest late afternoon around 5-5:30 after the 4:00 athlete meeting, maybe at TJI Fridays in the Breakers which is accessible from the beach by the swim start. If that doesn't work, evening is ok also. My wife and kids will be there as well so whatever time i just need to let them know.

Cheers

Ugh, I really hope the swim isn't super choppy. I'm a REALLY slow swimmer (I'm guessing I'm going to come out of the water in the 1:45 range), so I don't really need any added obstacles. I suppose I'll get through it though. As for the bike, I'm currently running on 808s, but am going to throw a front 303 I have in the car in case I'm feeling uncomfortable about the winds once the forecast gets more solidified. The rear 808 doesn't concern me. A disk may be a different story though...

I'm definitely up for meeting up on Saturday! It's just me, so I'm flexible regarding time. After the meeting at TGIFridays works for me. I'm staying at The Breakers, so I'll likely be hanging around that area regardless...

Weather.com now matches what you're seeing on accusource Tom, so that's good i think. Still looks partly sunny and 70ish...ideal.

Haven't quite been able to kick this bug yet...doing much better and have been taking antibiotics, so i should be fine by tomorrow. not ideal, but what can you do.

so let's plan 5:00 at Fridays in the Breakers as of now. I figure this is right after the meeting/check in stuff and people can get on their way to dinner and then don't have to worry about afterwards. If anyone has an issue, let me know. there are some other folks from the HIM and sprint thread that wanted to come by as well.

if you guys take off and don't get a chance to check back here, i'll be wearing an all black addidas visor and a green shirt. if you spot me at the expo, feel free to stop me there to say hi as well.

Fingers crossed that the forecast holds and we have great weather. I'm also hoping I remember how to SBR. I haven't done a single workout all week. Ooops!

Okay, meeting at Friday's at 5:00 sounds like a plan. Guess I should also plan my outfit ahead of time. I'll go with my pink and white sleeveless top with a silver metal ring on one of the shoulders. Hope that's descriptive enough.

I'm driving over all day tomorrow. I'll probably check my phone periodically to see if anyone makes any updates/changes before Saturday, but otherwise, I'll see you all there!

i'm fairly certain you won't forget. I actually took my wetsuit to the pool at my gym yesterday. First time i've done that...wanted to get a little more swim time with it on in case weather washes the practice swim out on Saturday.

Tom, i guess i could have shown a little more support and gone with some Buckeye gear...oh well. And to your question on the wheels, i was going to borrow a disc for the race but opted not to. I've never raced with one and being by the lake, i dont feel like making this race my trial run. I'm running Hed H3s on front and back.

safe travels all

I was knee deep in the water at the swim start yesterday and it looked great. Water is warm and much calmer than I expected. Saturday is gonna suck but hoping for a great Sunday.

I made it! Took 11 hrs of almost straight driving. Not going to lie, my room is pretty gross, but I can see the buoys from my window, so clearly it's all about location...

I don't know how to post a pic to the forum from my phone. If you PM me your email or number I could send it to you. Honestly though, it's not a great pic. I can't get it all in the shot. You can see how it matches with the layout online if you're there, it just doesn't translate well on my phone. There's orange buoys at the corners and two yellow sighting buoys in between along each stretch. Either way, I'll still take that beer for my efforts. Haha, JK!

Hope that's right Tom. Looks like it's a bit of a fiasco there this Am. The swim practice is at the peak of the wind today. Last year it was rainy and a lot of chop the two days prior and then flat as a table day of.

It's definitely windy today; there's waves on the swim course! At this point, I'm trying not to stress about it, since it was calm yesterday and the forecast looks like it hopefully shouldn't be too windy tomorrow.

This will be my first IM. I am coming from sunny Toledo. Do not have a training plan yet, but not surprising, I'm rather unstructured. Looking forward to ideas from you all!
