Run
Comments: Started off just behind 3hr Pace Group. Plan was to hit the half way mark around a 1:30 and maintain a 6:52 pace for as long as I could hold on.Hit the mid point right on target and just kept on going. Loved the course! It was all concrete and very fast. A couple of the roads were the same as the IMTX run course. I started to feel the pain coming on around mile 20 and and by mile 22 was in a world of hurt. Head down and just kept moving forward. By mile 24 my pace had dropped to 7:42 and I gave it everything I had left. Crossed the finish line with a 3:06:25 and earned my first trip to the Boston Marathon in 2013! I left everything I had on the course! What would you do differently?: Drink more electrolytes the day before the race. Other than that I hit my plan spot on and was prepared for the hurt. Also, I would remember to spray TriSlide on my chest. Bloody nipples are not fun! Post race
Warm down: Medical Tent for a spell! What limited your ability to perform faster: Nothing, this is as fast as I could go. Event comments: Really enjoyed the race. For a first year event it was extremely well organized and no major hiccups occurred. The post race food was this weird spicy rice bowl. Everyone was complaining about it but I chowed it down. Will do this race again and will recommend it to all of my friends. Last updated: 2012-03-05 12:00 AM

Overcast
Overall Rank = 31/1009
Age Group = 35-39
Age Group Rank = 4/112
The goal was to Boston Qualify. In my age group the time for that is sub-3:10. I was aiming for a few minutes less.
Before the race I took in 24oz of EFS Drink and a whole wheat bagel with PB.
Ran about a mile with a few strides and an all out sprint to loosen up at the end. Jog on over to the start line and had a little sweat going. It was cold and windy so I was ready to get going.
