Is this a good trail to train on with a tri bike?  I've never been on it.  I see most comments on here referring to roadway rides.  Just curious what peoples thoughts/experiences were.

Not really.  It's wider than a normal sidewalk, but it twists and turns and you would not be able to keep a full head of steam as you might wipe someone out around a corner.

It's better for cruiser bikes or hauling your kids in a bike trailer.

It's also great for running.

But, I would not take my tri bike on it for true training.

As a frequent runner on the trail I echo what Ryan said.  I hate rounding a corner and seeing a cyclist on their drops acting like the mixed use trail is their personal race track.  I have no problem with the cruiser bikes, families riding, or even road bikes as long as they are going at a reasonable speed and are cautious and respectful of others also using the trail for other purposes.

On occasion, I will ride the trail on my tri bike to get to the SM Park loop, but I keep my speeds at a very leisurley pace there and back.

Sorry for the rant, I will step off my soapbox now.

Same here, all the trails - Mill Creek, Indian Creek, Tomahawk Creek, etc are great for running or family type rides. I wouldn't use them for a real tri training ride.

That's for the feedback everyone!  That's exactly what I was needing to hear.  I'm brand new to all of this and feeling my way though it.  Thanks.

If you come all the way west to ride on the trail for try training you're better off staying on the roads. I ride a 20 mile loop west on Prairie Star Pkwy (95th St) to Canyon Creek Pkwy north to College Blvd to Pflumm south to 95 St and back to Lackman (start). If I go early enough in the morning I can ride without never having to stop for traffic lights. A few stops near the end of the loop if I ride in the evening.
