Subject: RE: calories and more calories If you are loosing weight you are by definition burning more calories than you are consuming. I think we all find our appetite increases in correlation with our increase in training. At 180 lbs and nearing the peak of IM training I bet you are burning more than 3500 calories most days. I weigh a bit more than you (195) and at baseline probably burn 2200-2500 calories in a day. For me a 3 hour Z2-3 ride burns about 2,500 calories (based on HR and weight calculations) meaning for that day I use about 5,000 calories. I may not eat that in the same day I use it, but I need to get it from somewhere or I will keep loosing weight. I think I remember reading that Michael Phelps eats about 8,500 calories a day when he is in his peak training. When I am in my peak training I am similar to you - always eating or planning my next food! I just try to make sure I am making good choices with complex carbs, a quality low fat protein, and fresh fruit/veggies as much as possible. |
