Yes, I know mapmyride, but for some reason, that site hates me (like blank page or "loading..." kind of hate).  I haven't yet found a site where I can enter a route and get an elevation profile.  I'd really like to be able to compare my favorite bike routes to upcoming races.  Any free and functional sites that you know of?

It's weird that you can't get mapmyride to work... have you tried a different browser?

The only other option I know of is ridewithgps.com which is very similar to mapmyride.

And btw. a GPS is not a very accurate tool to measure elevation... a barometric altimeter is much more exact and instant. If you have a GPS in your car, take a look at the elevation (while standing still, not when you're driving!) and you can see how it's changes constantly, despite you being stationary. That's quite a big error margin.

Click on "Routes" above, and then the "Create Your Own Route" link on the left-hand side.

Thank you!!  Got a couple made up already and this is perfect--logs and all, y'know    I feel a little oblivious and stupid, but thank you so much for pointing out the obvious!

Love the routes!  I think I am getting new ones daily from others, and love the variety.

I'll try bikeroutetoaster.  I discovered that mapmyride doesn't hate me if I use Internet Explorer--the difference was quite shocking.  BT claims my 5.6 mile run loop has 1152 feet of climb; mapmyride says 210, ridewithgps says 460.  Either way, BT is WAAAYY off.  And since the point is the elevation, I need to find something else.  Thanks for the suggestion!
