Overall Rank = 1442/1500
Age Group = Athena
Age Group Rank = 0/
Pre-race routine:

Hung out, tried to stay relaxed. Drank 24 oz. Cytomax and had one Powerbar.
Event warmup:

None
Swim
  • 39m 50s
  • 1250 meters
  • 03m 11s / 100 meters
Comments:

Swim seemed longer than it was, strange course in that you had to cut back across most of lake when it seemed like you were almost finished.
What would you do differently?:

Felt pretty good overall, a bit slower than anticipated but also stayed relaxed.
Transition 1
  • 06m 17s
Comments:

Long run required through transition area, first up deep sand from beach which was tough.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 1h 40m 18s
  • 25 miles
  • 14.96 mile/hr
Comments:

Had some early calf cramping but loosened up. Felt strong until Bailey Hill. After the climb I was spent. Had a lot of low back cramping too. Maintained a steady pace but not particularly fast.
What would you do differently?:

TRAIN TRAIN TRAIN
Transition 2
  • 02m 35s
Run
  • 1h 28m 42s
  • 6.2 miles
  • 14m 19s  min/mile
Comments:

Felt AWEFUL at the beginning of the run, nauseated and exhausted. Forced myself to complete run, wanted to quit. Did the walk/run thing throughout, longest run segment was only 6 min. Had A LOT of trouble getting any energy or GU on board due to nausea. Stuck with water and sucked it up to finish. Plantar fasciitis ok during run but EXTREMELY painful after.
What would you do differently?:

Train more consistently.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked to car

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Minimal training, lack of nutrition (unable to eat due to nausea throughout bike ride and run).

Event comments:

Was not ready for this distance due to difficulty getting training runs in lately (having a lot of trouble with plantar fasciitis). Will stick to sprint distance, much more pleasurable for me.
