Subject: Cold OWS hood help
Ok, I'm doing alcatraz an think i need a hood. What brand do you recomend. I went to a dive shop thwy had 5mm and a lava core that was just a shell no insulation just a layer

I swim in one similar to this: http://www.swimoutlet.com/product_p/4854.htm

I OWS once or twice a week in low 50's water with the neoprene cap and a latex cap on top for visibility.  Works great!

I also have the Blue Seventy neoprene cap. Does okay. Add another swim cap over it for visibility, though.

When I swam Alcatraz i picked-up an orange Brarracuda insulated neoprene cap.  They still require you to wear the swim cap that they provide you for the event.
