Pre-race routine:

Relaxing. Woke up, had breakfast of scrambled eggs, a piece of toast, and some coffee. No cream, but that's ok.

Nothing. Just stayed relaxed

Comments:

Mile 1 was a very quick mile, and we tried to dial it back to no avail. Same with mile 2. Mile 3 went surprisingly fast, but I started to feel a very small pain in my shoulder. By the end of Mile 4, it blew up and I was hurting bad, in addition to side stitching. I avoided any water stations out of fear of walking and therefore not making our time.
What would you do differently?:

Hard to say honestly. I think hydrate a bit better during the run, definitely put in a few more long run beforehand.

Most likely just not running a longer distance in training

Course: Mile 1 starts off flat to slightly downhill, with a slight uphill at the end of it. Mile 2 has a bitchin hill by the hippie commune, and is otherwise mostly uphill. Mile 3 just sucks, a winding way through the neighborhoods, and Mile 4 is no better. Mile 5 peaks then heads downhill to Pearl. Mile 5 involves two climbs, and then the final .2 are through Folsom street and into the stadium
