Subject: Anyone doing the Canmore Xterra on Sept. 2?

I'm curious if anyone has done this event before.  I am planning on racing this and I have never swam open water.  I hear it is really cold...I have a lot of work to do in the pool before I'll feel ready I think!

Any advice on this course would be greatly appreciated.  Also, let me know if you are racing this year!

Thinking of doing this one this year... My wife did the Canmore Triathlon last year and the swim was in the same lake. She said it was really cold and suggested a neoprene cap.

Quarry is very warm this summer. In fact its 21-22 which is close to prohibiting wetsuits (22 is the magic number for short races). Even by Sept I bet is drops to 19 which is plenty warm.

Did the Xterra Challenge 3k swim. Raced withoit my wetsuit and won. It will cool a bit in the coming weeks but should not be bad (warmer than Banff)
