Subject: Women's Gear for Beginner Triathlete

Hi all! I'm participating in my first triathlon - Central Park Tri: swim .25 mi (pool), bike 12 mi, run 3 mi.

What is the best gear to purchase for this race? Thanks!

You could just do it in your swim suit (or sport bra and swim suit, if you are bustier). No real need to buy anything.

As stated above- you could do it in your swimsuit if it provides the support you need.

or, you could swim in your swimsuit and then pull on your cycling shorts in T1 and cycling and run in those.

but- if you want to buy your first useful piece of tri gear- the first thing is a pair of tri shorts.  Tri-shorts are designed such that you can swim, bike and run in them. Really handy, and they work really well.

Note:  it's nearly impossible to pull a shirt on in T1 over a wet body.

SOAS  racing apparel!!!  It is fantastic and designed for women.  It is by far the best tri apparel I have ever worn.  I have completed several triathlons and will be attempting my second Ironman in two weeks.  You will not be disappointed.  Awesome customer service to boot.
