Pre-race routine:

Woke up early enough to have a breakfast of eggs, oats, and coffee.
Event warmup:

I didn't do anything to warm up physically. I just looked around and tried to see how everyone was setting up for transitions and tried to figure out what to do.
Swim
  • 10m 24s
  • 300 yards
  • 03m 28s / 100 yards
Comments:

I WAS SO NERVOUS ABOUT THE SWIM! This has given me the most anxiety, which I dealt with my basically convincing myself that my race would really be starting after the swim, and I kind of ignored it. I had an hour and a half of waiting after the race started for my time to swim, and watching everyone else actually made me feel a bit better. There were, of course, amazing swimmers, but there were also enough people who were just getting through it like me that I was able to calm down a bit. We were started twenty seconds apart. Two people passed me, and I passed two others.
What would you do differently?:

Chill out about it.
Transition 1
  • 00m 45s
Comments:

Actually took longer than 45 seconds, as stated above regarding swim time.
What would you do differently?:

I wish I would've dried my feet better!
Bike
  • 1h 12m 34s
  • 15 miles
  • 12.40 mile/hr
Comments:

I am kind of amazed that this is my weakest area. I am very curious to see what things would be like if I had a decent bike. I also realize that I did not put nearly enough time in the saddle as I should have, and far too much of it was on the nice flat rail trail by my house.
What would you do differently?:

Next time, if I don't have a road bike by then, I will rent one.
Transition 2
  • 00m 56s
Comments:

Husband was there to cheer me on at this transition :) I took a quick drink and shoved some dried apricots in my mouth before heading out.
What would you do differently?:

Have water on bike.
Run
  • 31m 42s
  • 3.25 miles
  • 09m 45s  min/mile
Comments:

HOLY CRAP HOW DID I RUN THAT FAST? For me, that is really really fast. I was just in the mindset that I was probably going very slow since I was so tired, and that I'd have to push it to keep it under 40 minutes. Under 40 was actually my goal. Well obviously I am not pushing myself enough when I work out, because look how much better I do with a bit of adrenaline!

I did get pretty shaky at the end. A volunteer asked me for my timing chip and I was shaking as I bent down to grab it off my ankle. I started wheasing a bit. I was spent!
Post race
Warm down:

Walking.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Just need more training and focus.

It actually took me a bit less than that, because they allowed us to change into sneakers before crossing the timing mat into the gravelly transition area.
