Total Time = 5h 35m 21s
Overall Rank = 434 /1699
Age Group = 30-34
Age Group Rank = 72/211
Pre-race routine:

Get up at 3:15AM. Eat breakfast - wheat bread, peanut butter, and banana. Drink w/ orange Gatorade and water.
Event warmup:

Quick hydrate w/ water/gatorade/EFS mix/Prerace mix, stretch, quick swim in lake.
Swim
  • 43m 9s
  • 2112 yards
  • 02m 02s / 100 yards
Comments:

First stretch was a bit crowded, first buoy turn (right) was right into the sun, so sighting to the final turn back to shore was a bit tough.
What would you do differently?:

Get better spacing/spot during swim start, I'm not a fast swimmer, but found that I had to dodge and get around a few swimmers during the first few hundred yards.
Transition 1
  • 02m 23s
Bike
  • 2h 45m 29s
  • 56 miles
  • 20.30 mile/hr
Comments:

A few steep hills to climb, but could make up time/speed on the downhills. Would definitely recommend driving the course before the race, so you know when to prepare for the hills and turns. On one stretch of a steep downhill, the road was a bit rough, so you had to ride closer to the middle of the road.
Transition 2
  • 02m 8s
Run
  • 2h 02m 12s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 09m 20s  min/mile
Comments:

Great crowd support, aid stations were well stocked w/ good options. Good view of the lake.
Post race
Warm down:

Stretch, put on compression socks.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Had to go #2 before the race, but held it due to long lines at the porta potties and transition was closing soon. Ended up leaving my spot in line, was able to manage to forget about the bathroom during the swim and bike, but ended up having to stop during the run. Definitely need to think about how to flush my system just before the race, so I can feel a lot more comfortable throughout the race ;)
