Subject: Has anyone done IRONMAN San Juan, Puerto Rico 70.3

I am planning on signing up for this HIM.  It would be my first one.  Has anyone done it before?  Just wanted to get some reviews before making the final decision.

Search in Race reports for last few years, and you can find BTers who have done the race as well as write up about the race and their experience. Search button is top right hand corner second from the right. You can enter date range for say time of the last two years. Be sure to have the name of the race correct.

I did it in March 2011 which was the first year. I can't say enough good things about it. It was definitely a first class event as a first time event. The community was very proud to have everyone there, and the race directors were very visible and approachable. We stayed at the Caribe Hilton which was the host hotel.

The swim was in the protected area and nice. The bike had a few rolling hills but even though the wind could be a factor it wasn't bad. Now the run.....that is a challenging run course with some hills. BUT I will say it was a very scenic run course which helped.

I would do it again. It was a blast.
