Pre-race routine:

Up at 5:00 AM and ate a clif bar, banana and Gatorade. Out the door at 6:00 and arrived at Deer Creek at 7:00. Didn't get to the venue in time to get the end rack spot. Took a gel and small amount of Gatorade during the national anthem.
Event warmup:

5 minute jog 45 minutes before the scheduled start.

The course is flat and fast. Faded slightly over the course of the run because I went out pretty fast.

What would you do differently?:

Only thing to possibly change would be learning to leave the bike shoes attached to the bike and execute a flying mount.

I'm used to more traffic on the bike course. Duathletes were sent off first and the top 3 elite sprint triathlon athletes didn't catch me on the bike until the last couple of miles. Happy with my progress as I was a minute faster than earlier this year on the same course.

Need to continue working on hill intervals.

My back was stiff coming off of the bike. Passed an age group competitor just after the 1 mile mark. Got stronger as the run went on and closed in a sprint holding off the guy I passed by 4 seconds to take 2nd in my age group.
What would you do differently?:

My HR data shows that i could have pushed the run harder. I feel like I could have gone at least 1 minute faster.
