Subject: Training for second season Hi. In 2011 I lost about 30lbs and got myself fitter than I've been for a long time - mostly working in the gym and mountain biking. To push myself I set myself a target to complete a triathlon in 2012. I trained alone, somewhat haphazardly, and completed my first sprint tri in March 2012 in 1hr 29m. I was thrilled that I'd done it. I was hooked. I completed two more sprints in May and August and was delighted to knock 8 minutes off my time and finish mid pack (among the Clydesdales ). I have now set myself the target of completing my first Olympic tri in April 2013 and have commenced training toward that after having a few weeks 'off'. Running is my weakness so I'm using a run focused training plan and working at keeping my heart rate lower. I'm also hoping a full training schedule is going to help me shed more weight (with proper diet of course ). I plan to do probably one more Olympic tri and one or two sprints in 2013. Further in the future I will target half Ironman and eventually a full Ironman, stepping up each year. |
