Pre-race routine:

Showered, ate banana & half of a breakfast cookie, drank some gatorade, and drove to race site.
Event warmup:

Set up transition area, socialized, walked to run start site.
Run
  • 35m 7s
  • 3.11 miles
  • 11m 17s  min/mile
Comments:

DFL on the run. Nothing like being chased down by the patrol car guarding the intersections.... :( Very discouraging.

On a side note though, this time is my PR for a 5K for 2006. DFL and a PR in the same run, how funny.
What would you do differently?:

Need to work on my run. I feel this is my weakest event.
Transition 1
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

Good, no problems
What would you do differently?:

Run faster, so I'm not the only bike left in T1.
Bike
  • 52m 14s
  • 13.33 miles
  • 15.31 mile/hr
Comments:

After coming in DFL on the run, I wanted to make up some time on the bike. I passed maybe a dozen people or so which was good. Tried to push but not too much since I still had another run left to do.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing.... maybe work on more hills during training, but felt good about it anyway.
Transition 2
  • 01m 30s
Comments:

No issues other than waning strength and NO desire whatsoever to run the last mile.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing, happy with T2.
Run

Comments:

Hamstrings & calves cramped up on this run. I was beyond exhausted at this point, and every breath I took aggravated the pinched nerve in my lower neck/upper back area. If DH hadn't been running beside me, cheering me on, I might've quit.... managed to cross the finish line despite myself. :)
What would you do differently?:

Run more.
Post race
Warm down:

Walked around covered pavillion. Drank water, ate half of banana (all I could manage to choke down).

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Stomach was very upset during bike and continued through the run & finish. My lack of running ability really hampers things. The DFL at the beginning really deflated my motivation.

Event comments:

Very good race. Glad I went, considering how much I hate running.
