Subject: Where to put my insulinpump wearing a trisuit
Hi thereI have purchased a trisuit but one thing I didn,t think of was where I should wear my insuline pump.I'm not able to wear my pump during my swim so I should be able to connect and place my pump pretty quickly at T1, and I should be able to operate my pump during cycling and running. Are there some diabetics who have experiences with this??Than you very much in advance for helping!Kind regards, G!

Hey Guggefar, can you trade your trisuit in for tri shorts and a tri top?  I also wear a pump, and that has made it easier to connect/disconnect easily.  My tri shorts have side pockets and the pump fits nicely into one of them.  Here is an example of tri shorts with a side pocket:   http://www.rei.com/product/847281/zoot-performance-6-tri-shorts-mens-2012-closeout?cm_mmc=cse_froogle-_-pla-_-product-_-847281&mr:referralID=8c3d9c1b-a8fb-11e2-9dea-001b2166becc

I don't have DM but if I had an insulin pump I would pitch it for events and give myself a shot of basal insulin (lantus or levemir) the morning of the event.

You may wish to take this up with your physician.

Would a Spi Belt be too small to hold the pump?

Thank you all for you suggestions, it gave me some inspiration :-)I will try the following:- use the long tube 110cm- place the infusion set in my stomach- at T1 I can relatively quick connect the tubing by opening my suit- I can put the pump in my back pocket (as mentioned) above or put it in a telphone wrist pocket. (To make sure nothink can pull out the infusionset I will tape the tubing on my arm with ordinary tape).Thanx again for giving me some inspiration :-)Rgds G!

I wear mine clipped in the front of my top. Run the tube and pump up under the shirt and clip it to the front of the collar. It's easy to access while riding. I also have a spi pump waist belt. But once it is in there it isn't very accessible.. I have also clipped it inside of my waist of my shorts too. Tri shorts are tight it doesn't move around.

If you want to chat with some Type 1 members of my team and ask how they race with insulin pumps, I can get you in contact.  Just let me know.
