I did my first Ultra last may (Collegiate Peaks Trail Run): http://trited.blogspot.com/2013/05/race-report-collegiate-peaks-tra... and I'm considering another sometime late next fall. I'm wondering if anyone has done Run, Rabbit, Run in Steamboat Springs, and what their experience was? I would be looking at the 50 mile event.

I've been at Run Rabbit the last 2 years. My husband and my sister both ran in 2011 and all three of us ran last year. All three of us are running again this year. Of the ultras that I've been to, this is my favorite. The race is well organized and run. The course is beautiful. The first 6 miles are up the ski mountain on the fire road then there is awesome single track on rolling terrain. The climb up to the rabbit ears is very steep and challenging.

There are tons of cheap condos right at the start finish line too.

Go for it. I don't think you'll regret it.

I can train for half marathons on pavement and on trails, but as soon as I change it up to gravel or loose dirt my knee swells and the pain it causes is unreal. Any ideas why this happens?

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"
