Comments:

Nice swim given the lack of training. Full wetsuit was sweet 161/243 or 13/17
What would you do differently?:

Train more

  • 19.37 mile/hr
Comments:

Went too hard on the bike, but didn't care. 52/243 and 3/17 AG. Ran out of water at 35mi point as the 2nd water stop wasn't fully setup. Had to climb SL with stinging sweat in my eyes. Stopped a the water stop at the top and guzzled a full bottle and filled up my bar bottle.
What would you do differently?:

Slow down, but hey it was a fun ride
Transition 2
  • 05m 34s
Comments:

Once I got to the rack I took my time to put on the socks and dump some water on my head as it was getting warm. I could tell that my legs were toasted and the run was going to be a long day
Run
  • 3h 23m 56s
  • 13.1 miles
  • 15m 34s  min/mile
Comments:

Right quad cramped up on me at <1mi so I decided to enjoy the hot sunny weather and started walking. Ran from 5 to 7.5 and last 1.1. Could have run more but didn't want to have any long lasting muscle issue after the race.
What would you do differently?:

Slower bike to run more
Post race
Warm down:

Pizza!

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Fitness

Event comments:

Had to be on the hottest day of the year so far! Only issue was the not having the 2nd water stop on the bike ready when I got there. Otherwise I'm doing this race again as its a great early spring race to get the winter training in focus. Besides it was only $100 to do!

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

It’s a challenge to push yourself a little harder and a little further. Be proud of every workout that is accomplished and every step-even the baby ones-that you take on this course to the finishline.
