Comments:

uphill start, couldn't get enough momentum to slip into pre-clipped shoes. knocked one off and had to go back for it, put both on off the bike, then mount up and start again.

  • 10 kms

What would you do differently?:

more extensive hill repeats in training

Event comments:

Overall Course based on my ability: I wouldn't say it was too hard, but more challenging than I expected for my first Olympic distance race.

After a hard workout, I really like having a Coke or Pepsi. How bad is this for recovery and for my health? Should I stop drinking orange juice because it is loaded with (fattening) carbs and sugar?

The toll of fate strikes as those with orange swim caps are beckoned to begin the journey. Ahhh, nothing like the feel of ice cold water seeping in your wetsuit to wake you up. GO!
