I am upgrading my road bike. Here is what I am looking at. I am not sure which is the best option.
1. 2013 Trek Madone 4.5 mostly Ultegra except crank so I would upgrade the crank giving me a total around 2,400.
2. 2012 Trek Madone 4.7 mostly Ultegra even crank -2,500 (might be able to get a slightly better deal)
or 3. Wait until August to save more money and get Trek Madone 4.7 2014 2,900. Downside I won't have it for a hilly tri race in a couple weeks and most of the riding season here will be done.

I would definitely wait for the 2014, it takes all the good things of the upper level Madones and add them to the 4 series, Kammtail, etc. etc. etc. Plus 11-speed Ultegra is REALLY nice. 2012 was still 10 speed (nothing wrong with that, but I do think the new Ultegra shifts better, even better than the 10 speed Dura Ace). I can't see any changes (except color) between the 2012 and the 2013. Plus, the 2013 4.5 has a few downgraded components (105… again, fully acceptable, but I'd want the higher spec's if I had a choice).

If it was under $2k for the 2013, then maybe… but the price difference is simply not enough to forego all the good stuff Trek did to the 4 series for 2014.
