Rectangle-This was my first time trial course.
Transition 1
  • 01m 26s
Bike
  • 43m 26s
  • 12 miles
  • 16.58 mile/hr
What would you do differently?:

I wish I had a road bike for this course. The tri bike was useless due to the turns and hills.
Transition 2
  • 01m 3s
Run
  • 22m 44s
  • 3 miles
  • 07m 35s  min/mile
Comments:

Able to sprint at the end so perhaps I had more left in my legs than I felt, however I was also concerned about tripping in the woods so I backed off. Nationals is in two weeks and I didn't want to be injured for that race.
Post race
Warm down:

Lots of stretches and jumped in the lake again for a cool down. ART help from the onsite chiropractor.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

training has not been optimized and I need more work on hills with tight turns so I don't lose momentum in fear of crashing.

Event comments:

This is a challenging course. I wouldn't necessarily recommend this for a newbie to triathlons, but someone who is looking to test their bike technical skills would definitely enjoy this ride. Water is more clear than some of the other lakes I've raced in this season.

Course: Very challenging course with lots of hills and tight turns. Park road was split for two way bike traffic. Difficult to get in a groove numerous people off on the side fixing chains. Had to slow down frequently during turns since you couldn't see what was on the other side and I was concerned that a biker might be down on the other side.

This past spring I realized a few of us were heading in the wrong direction physically. We were getting together for poker games and kids’ birthdays, but that was it.

The challenge? The accomplishment? I want to do this because it is an opportunity to live life. The event is an indoor sprint triathlon. I get to experience the challenge on a safer scale.

I was passing others who were saying, "Good job, 587" (that was my race number). People were cheering me on. These were the nicest people I have ever been around!
