Woke up at 5, had a cliff bar. Stopped for coffee on the way to the race site

Had a great swim, forgot how it was to get bumped at the beginning. Sighted well, the only thing that slowed me down was the congestion at the turn buoys.

Not a great run, decided to walk the hill that starts the second lap while I was doing the first lap, not a good sign. Seemed like I could not get my heart rate down, legs were not the problem.

The boat was being tossed around. Someone noted that there were whitecaps on the waves. Another guy said, “This is going to be challenging.” I began to wonder what he meant by 'challenging'.

I quickly browsed an article in Men's Health that talked about doing a triathlon, and how it wasn't really that hard. With a "tsk!" I quickly turned the page while thinking, "Yeah, right!"
