Hey there Balthasar, can you tell me where I can find out what type of events these are?
I'm considering my first tri and was hoping for a sprint event

To check out the gatorade tri series, go to:

www.usmevents.com.au

I am doing my first one in February in Caloundra, it is:

400m swim
15k cycle
4k run

I only began all these sports a few months ago, the longest cycle I have done is 40k and it felt great! I have joined an adult swim squad twice a week which is really improving my technique and breathing.

My running is the biggest challenge, I suffer from shin splints, and I had a broken foot in August which was a setback.

I am doing a 55k cycle tomorrow (Camp Quality, Kawana) so I hope it goes well, although it is not a race or anything, I will be timing myself.

Von.  The caloundra one is GREAT you'll love it.  I've signed up to do the enticer there this year after coming dead last in my age group last year.  ^_^  Still had a ball doing it though.  The distances are very achievable but the other competitors are FAST!

Was up in Caloundra last week,  Absolutley beautiful.  Have a great ride!

Thanks. It was a GREAT ride, I did it in about 2:10 so I was happy with that. I went with my personal trainer, he was just under 2h and wasn't ready with the camera at the end, as he thought I was still half an hour away.

The big hill at Moffat Headland nearly did me in...but I watched a few people get off their bikes and walk up, and it spurred me on to keep going (Plus, I didn't think I could unclip my feet without falling off halfway up, so I thought I better get going).
It took me 20k to recover!!

I'm looking forward to the Caloundra race..a bit nervous about the swim in the ocean ( when I surf I don't even dangle my legs off my board, so this should tell you something LOL)

lol.  it's not an ocean swm.  you're in the canal.   still could be sharks but you've got more chance of hitting a dewgong than being taken by a shark.  biggest annoyance was the seaweed.  eeep!  it was everywhere!!!
