OK - who would be up for a lunch gathering afterwards? I know I haven't seen any of the NC BTers since I moved up to New Haven, and want to have a chance to hang out.

Who's interested, and any ideas where we could go?

(I'm driving down that morning, so can't get together for dinner the night before)

F.O.G. - 2006-09-28 9:54 AM So we're all gonna meet for at least a picture beforehand, right? I've never done Pinehurst, anyone got any good ideas for meeting place and time?

There is an Outback there and a Bonefish Grill. Let me ask my sis about pasta places, other choices.

I don't think I'm going to make it. I'm still plenty sick, not racing, so not sure I want to haul my butt up there.

The race venue is tucked back in a residential area. I can't imagine that parking won't be congested; parking lot is small.  Arrive early!

Make sure you check out the parking announcement on the website, you will not be able to park on the road this year. It looks like they have a parking lot of of the main road heading to the race site, off of Linden Rd.

Hey all!

I won't be there this year (I'm too new but will hopefully be there next season), but wanted to wish you all the best of luck this weekend!  Race hard and have fun!

I don't think that's a short walk either. I drove to the marina earlier this year to have a look.

According to the sheet, it says it's a 1/2 mile.  I'm thinking either get dropped off or ride in on the bike.  Don't forget to strap you helmet on!!

I'm game. I am unfamiliar with eateries around Pinehurst, but I'm sure we can find something!

Who's up for an informal meet-n-greet before the race and possibly a group photo to commemorate the occasion? 1 Foot and I are not familiar with the race site...but she had a good suggestion...possibly around the awards tent/gazebo might be a good place. From the race site diagrams on Set-up's website, it looks to be rather centrally located between the swim start and finish. Thoughts? Suggestions?

See y'all soon!

**Ack! The butterflies in my stomach are starting to hatch!**

I'm game for whatever...I like the after race idea. I'm going to be in psycho-make-sure-everything-is-in-place mode before the race. I'm already getting nervous. But afterward, (as long as I can walk) food would be great!

Assuming that everyone knows what you're racing in, I thought we might put that out.  Also, race numbers come out tonight, so we can include those too.

I'll start:

Marvarnett (Blue Aquaphor Active 2 piece, white hat on run)

Lunch sounds great! Group pic after or before? Where to meet? I need to know these things! If everyone will post their numbers, etc ... I'll try really hard to get an extra pic or two ... no promises ... I can barely keep track of my own name these days much less of who is where in the pack.

I'm #330. Blue tri top, black tri shorts, $5 sunglasses, school bus-yellow QR bike. I won't be staying too long afterward as I need to get back to Raleigh for my son's soccer game. But hopefully I'll get to see some of you guys before and immediately after. Good luck!!

I'm #551 and I'll be in a red & black swimsuit (white hat while running).

Since I probably have to head back to Charlotte right after the race I vote for a meet-n-greet before the race at the awards tent. Say 7:15?

I'm #572 - Tom Petersen. Don't confuse me with #110 - Tom Peterson!! LOL!!

I'm driving down that morning, but a meet/greet at 7:15 sounds good, assuming I get my butt out of bed on time and am not late!!

I'll probably have on a blue/white desoto sleeveless top.

look forward to meeting new faces and seeing old friends!!

I just need to know what kind of beverage everyone wants after the race ... so I don't leave anyone out. I already have the Newcastle. What else?

I'll bring some Yuengling!!

One concern - are there restrictions on glass containers or alcohol at the marina? If so, i'll try to find some discreet paper bags as well......

561, black walmart shirt, black desoto shorts, white visor that I scored for free from NUUN, possibly some NUUN tattoos, since they were free too. I'm in for 7:15 wherever Mike Kelly. Oh yeah, and i'll be debuting my new Louis Guarneau Prologue time trial helmet that costs more than my bike!

I don't know the answer to that, but I'm planting myself near the run finish ... hopefully won't be an issue ... wouldn't plastic cups solve the issue?

Well, don't you know I just made the coolest posters and even have little cardboard stand thingys for them ... and it looks like rain. I am willing it to dry out ... for the comfort of the racers ... the spectators ... and me, volunteer/jockstrap girl!

I will hope for dry conditions.  I can't wait to see the signs and cutouts!!

But my last 2 races were cold and rainy...maybe if I don't race, the sun will come out.  Must contemplate this!

BUT!!!  I'm prepared clothes-wise, so that means it won't rain.

I've got cookies and cookies and cookies and halloween candy bars (the little ones) ... a six pack of Newcastle, a six pack of Yuengling Lager, diet coke and water (and cups). I even have something salty to eat. As if there isn't enough stuff at the race, right? Now ... I must find my bottle opener, folding table and a couple of chairs.

Now ... if I just had an easy way of keeping up with you so I could get pics. *sigh*
