FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe was fired by Jeff Sessions just days (I heard 26 hrs) before he was eligible for a full pension:

http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2018/03/17/former-fbi-deputy-direct...

Later, Trump tweeted, rather triumphantly, about this:

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%...

OK Trumpmeisters, please 'splain this to me how this is not a purely vindictive move.

If he lied during an investigation as a senior FBI official please explain to me why I should care if he gets fired and loses his pension.......because I don't.

He was leaking to the press. My guess is you will see fewer leaks out of the FBI.

I'm not commenting on his guilt or innocence, we have not yet seen the IG report on this. But firing him 26 hrs before he is eligible for a pension, that just smells like a crass, vindictive move. McCabe will land on his feet, but shave a bit more off Trump's karma. How soon until 2020?

Nice to see Liberals coming to the defense of law enforcement. HAHAHAHAHA!!!

I guess the next uniform cop who isn't truthful gets a pass too, huh?

Again, I HOPE they waited until he only had a day to go to get his pension.....that's the right message.

I read this today and agree totally.

"The FBI Office of Professional Responsibility (OPR), which is an equivalent of Internal Affairs, recommended the firing of McCabe due to his lying under oath. The FBI has no choice but to fire him in order to protect the integrity of the organization. The FBI is more than just McCabe."

It will be interesting to see what the IG shows. McCabe claims he was authorized to leak information by Comey which is direct contradiction to what Comey testified under oath to Congress. Oh what a tangle web they wove when they tried to exonerate Hillary for sending/receiving classified email on an unclassified system. Had I done that they'd of immediately walked me to the door, fired me and pulled my clearance.....and it was done multiple times, I'd be wearing orange today.

I said from day one that this whole thing is a Comey deal......HE is the key to all of this Russian investigation BS.  All you have to do is look at his statements regarding Clinton, and then Trump, in the run-up and the immediate aftermath of the election.

At this point, I could make the argument that the FBI, and not the Russians, meddled the most in the election.  All that's left is to figure out under who's behest it was done.  Hmmmmmm.....let me see......who was President at that time?

You saw it before I did. Must be your cop instinct. :-) I remember you posting a long time ago that Comey was gonna go down. I didn't think so. I guess I was taken in by his Clark Kent demeanor. Sure looks like he was working to insure HRC was elected. I think anyone who works with classified data knows she got a pass. I just read where some FBI agents about Comey's email investigation:

"“This is a textbook case where a grand jury should have convened but was not. That is appalling,” an FBI special agent who has worked public corruption and criminal cases said of the decision. “We talk about it in the office and don’t know how Comey can keep going.”"

It was interesting, because to me it was obvious that there was a big problem in the FBI field offices vs. what was coming out of his office.  It was obvious because just before the election Comey issues a statement that perhaps Clinton was not in the clear after all, and this was after going out of his way to say she was.  He then backtracked again right before the election.  At the time I thought it was really bizarre behavior.  As I watched what was unfolding after the election, and reading between the lines a bit after 30 years in law enforcement,  I kept asking myself why he would do what he did.  The only answer was to try to appease those in the organization who knew he was full of it with his original clearing of Clinton.  Then you have to ask yourself why he felt the need to appease them, and why he did it in the first place........and you need ZERO law enforcement experience to figure that one out. LOL

I don't like conspiracy theories, but this isn't really a conspiracy, it's just business as usual for anything surrounding the Clintons and the Obama administration (and maybe just politics in general).

I know this, the FBI has lost a tremendous amount of credibility......it'll be interesting to see how Mueller tries to restore it for the agency he put his heart and soul into.  Will he expose Comey?  Clinton?  Obama?

I doubt Trump has anything to fear in the way of election meddling......that's WAY out of his league.

But isn't it just as much of a dick move to disappear on vacation weeks before you are to retire to avoid addressing the crap you are being accused of?

And Ultimately the administration had to wait until others recommended his firing which was somewhat tied to information in the IG report, which still hasn't been released.  And if they waited any longer it would have been too late.

So while not nice, and maybe poor timing, It also is not inappropriate.

LOL My sentiments exactly. Trump has no filter between his head and his mouth. This is demonstrably true and is undisputable. So to expect him to keep his mouth shut about some sort of Russian quid pro quo defies logic. The only way to show quid pro quo would be if the FBI had audio tapes of him talking to Putin and saying, "....after the election I will have a lot more 'flexibility'." Oh wait, that was Obama.

Finally read this weekend how Flynn was indicted. Apparently his phone conversation with a Russian diplomat was bugged and when asked about what he'd talked about, he lied....thinking that might be illegal to set up a back channel....which, as it turns out, is not illegal. And this is why you never talk to investigators! :-)

“I want to believe the path you threw out for consideration in Andy’s office — that there’s no way he gets elected — but I’m afraid we can’t take that risk,” Strzok wrote to Page, adding, “It’s like an insurance policy in the unlikely event you die before you’re 40.”

Andy was deep in the swamp.......I won't be surprised if the IG reports recommends criminal prosecution of Andy. Which is good for him since he will get three squares and a cot which he needs now that he lost his pension.

For the record, he still gets his pension. He does not get some of the enhanced benefits he would have been eligible for, but his base pension is still his.

In what bizzaro world does a man get fired for cause and eligible to collect his pension. What a country!

I've seen headlines that some of his benefactors are already working to help him land on his feet.

Best right now is he cannot start drawing his pension for a few years.  I suspect if he sues to have his firing overturned, the response will more likely include criminal charges.  I'm obviously not a lawyer nor a pension specialist, but a felony conviction for official misconduct could cost him the entire pension.

I chuckle at the "land on his feet comments".   He's worth over $11M with $3M in real-estate and $400k in cars.  I think he's already several feet up on all of us.
As for the move, he broke the law and should be criminally prosecuted.  Just because he broke the law to benefit "your team" doesn't make him immune to the consequences of the choices he made.  I'm truly looking forward to a day when all are equal under the law.  I know, it's a dream but I will keep dreaming it.

IG report on why McCabe was fired.

http://dailycaller.com/2018/04/15/fbi-clinton-foundation-investigat...

Of course the media narratives is still that "Trump fired McCabe".

In my thinking, McCabe's wife Jill running for office and getting millions from the DNC is inherently a COI for an FBI executive overseeing investigations of politicians like Clinton and Trump.

I'm still skeptical of a conviction.  One thing most people often forget is that they are tried by a jury of their peers and their jury comes from Washington, DC which votes 95% democrat.
In other words, I'm not holding my breath unless he's tried under a more representative jurisdiction.
