I keep reading and hearing the talking heads that Trumps approval ratings going up despite all the negative media reporting. I’m beginning to wonder if his ratings are going up because of all the media bias and constant bashing. People can debate the China tariffs but I think people respect that he is trying level the playing field. Americans also appreciate that he worked to cut taxes and grow jobs. A rising tide floats all boats. So if you cut a rich persons taxes he has more disposable income to dump into the economy. 17 year low on unemployment is just hard to spin away...

BTW the Rasmussen polls which have him at 50 is limited to likely voters....which is what really matters.

Low unemployment isn't being spun away; more like being under reported. It's a big shiny star for the administration and reporting things that make the democrats look bad aren't what the press is all about anymore. Of course we could flip that and point out that Fox undermined every positive jobs outlook scored by the obama administration for 8 years. I'm not sure how the American people can muddle through official reports anymore, it seems each group uses different stats to look like they're doing better than they actually might be.

I do think that people are getting weary of all the media noise, I find myself consuming far less cable news than I did even 6 months ago. Nevertheless, I would provide a note of caution on interpreting the uptick in DJT approval. Both Real Clear Politics and Five Thirty Eight do nice meta-analyses of all credible polling (even Rasmussen) and weight based on the types of polling conducted. Both show Trump up, but really just on the high side of what was the margin of error in the polling all along. My interpretation is that those individuals that lean Trump are giving him the benefit of the doubt, but overall, his approval is still pretty dismal despite a pretty solid economy. This may very well change as his rhetoric continues to shake markets.

Oh, look CNN IS reporting the jobs picture, with a spin as predicted by our own political analyst Mike Rogillio.

The fact is that we are muddling along with a slightly improved economy than what we had during the Obama years. It is a glass half full/half empty economy and people can focus on the full or the empty parts of the glass depending on what they want their narrative to say. The important thing is where the water line is but we have waaaay to much noise out there.

Stock market up 42% since Trump took the helm. 3 million new jobs. Companies moving jobs and money back to the US. Illegal immigration down. Unemployment at 17 year low. My glass (401k) runnith over. Lower taxes. Remaking the courts with conservatives. Russian/Trump collusion dillusion falling apart. Fewer gov regulations allowing business to expand. NK coming to the table. Trade negotiations with China. Building the wall. ISIS nearly destroyed. What’s not to love? Oh yeah, the inane tweets.
