![]() | ![]() hi - I recently got my bike stolen so been combing the internets to find a good used replacement for this summer races (one olympic and one half iron). I found two deals for frames that are my size and I've talked the sellers to $1000 each so no difference in price... What bike should I choose 2012 Cervelo P2 Ultegra or the 2016 Orbea Ordu m20? |

Master ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() If they both fit you correctly I'd lean towards the Orbea (assuming it still have the Ultegra components). Bicycle Blue Book puts the 2012 P2 at $735 in Excellent condition whereas it puts the Orbea at $1200 in excellent condition. https://www.bicyclebluebook.com/SearchListingDetail.aspx?id=3040788 I'd try and talk down the P2 price if you want to have some $$ leftover for some other stuff. |

Is that the same Orbea that the Lotto Jumbo riders criticized quite publicly after poor performances at the Tour by two riders in the top 10? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a 2013 P2 ultegra and its a wonderful bike. The cockpit is a bit messy but can be cleaned up fairly well. I agree that 1k is a tad high unless it includes some race wheels or power meter. Don’t know too much about the Orbea other than some gripes regarding some of their models. |

Official BT Coach ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() Which one fits you best? Have you talked to a fitter about whether either of those bikes will actually fit your stack/reach? It's nice that the bikes "are the right size" but that's worthless if they can't be made to fit YOU. The fit is what should dictate your bike purchase. |

![]() ![]() ![]() | ![]() I have a 2016 Ordu M30, and really like the bike. It's nothing special, but it's solid, reliable, and fast enough. Pretty light, too; lighter than some more expensive bikes I've had the chance to compare it with. If we were talking similar vintage, I'd probably lean to the Cervelo P2 simply for the resale and cache, but I don't think it's functionally any better. But 4 years difference? I'd take the 4-year-newer Orbea every time. Originally posted by k9car363 Which one fits you best? Have you talked to a fitter about whether either of those bikes will actually fit your stack/reach? It's nice that the bikes "are the right size" but that's worthless if they can't be made to fit YOU. The fit is what should dictate your bike purchase. I agree that fit matters but, let's not confuse these with "Superbikes" that have proprietary, integrated front ends and limited fit windows. Both come with a conventional fork/steerer-tube and stem, which generally gives you a very large window of pad stack/reach adjustment via different length and angle of angled stems, and number of spacers below the stem.Even more pad stack can be achieved with pad pedestaling. The fit envelop of similar sized frames of these two models are a little different around the edges, but they largely overlap. If your fit is near the center of the envelop of one, it's not going to be far from the center of the other. In other words, there are going to be few folks for which one is a "good fit" and the other is a "poor fit." Edited by gary p 2019-03-12 1:30 PM |
