Comments:

It was a great race. I went out with what I knew would be a hard pace, but one I felt like I could easily do for only 6.2 miles. I wish I could have stayed a little longer after the race, but had to get to work. The only problem I had was a little brat (looked to be about 10 y/o). I never saw him with any adults and he kept cutting in front of runners. He nearly tripped me twice, and I witnessed several other runners having the same problem with him. He was trying to keep a pace that was far to fast for him. So he would cut in front of you...drop back then surge forward and do it again. After about 1 mile he fell back. I later saw him cheat by cutting about 2 miles off the race.
This is the first race in the Hat Trick consisting of this 10k, the Rock and Roll 1/2 Mary and the Silicon Valley Mary.
What would you do differently?:

Shoot the child before the race started.
Post race
What limited your ability to perform faster:

Nothing. In june I was at a 12 min/mile. Four months later, I am 50lbs lighter and I am now at sub 9. I am pleased with the progress I have made.

Hey, nice run!

I hear that if a kid almost trips you in a race you're allowed to yell at him. Really.

But I probably couldn't shoot him...

I think you should be more than "pleased" with that kind of progress because I think it's remarkable. I started running about 4 years ago, and my PR for a 10K is a little under 55 minutes. You should be very proud of your achievement.

About the kid.  That is typically the way children will run; sprint, walk, sprint, walk and so on. I have a 10 yo who is not a runner, but if he were, I'm about 99% sure that he would never get in anyone's way, but that is because I'm a stickler about manners and respect for others. So, if you're considering shooting someone, start with the parents because they failed the kid .

BTW, please don't shoot anybody, you probably wouldn't be able to do much swimming, biking, or running in prison.

Shoot was probably a bad choice of words for me.  I have only ever shot a gun once in my life.  And that was qualifing for a watch possition in the Navy...even in boot camp I never even held a gun.  Not really my thing.  I do like swords tho.  Do a lot of stage combat.  And you are also right...the parents are the ones I should shoo...I mean chop...Actually I am a pretty non violent person.

Good thing I am never going to have kids...and never really wanted them...I love my nephews, but in small doses.
