*warning - hard to pronounce atanomical terms below (at least for me anyway)*

Alright, I've spent the past 20 mins looking for the synergist to the tibialis anterior in dorsiflexion. Google and Wiki have been of no help.

However, with my luck there might not even be one...

Lucy - 2006-09-30 11:22 PM do you want to know what makes your big toe move up?

Where's your use of funny big words?

I'm looking for the muscle that brings your foot up. Or rather the muscle that 'helps' the muscle that brings your foot up (tibialus anterior). Like the opposite of standing on you tippy toes.

I don't think there is one. But I'd have to consult my anatomy book. Why do you ask?

AdventureBear - 2006-10-01 1:42 AM  Why do you ask?

Its the last box I have to fill in on this sheet I was given. Our foot guy at work now tells me he doesn't think there is one.

I hate trick questions. Thanks.

If it's not tibialis anterior, then I'm stumped.

As it turns out, thats the case. I brought it up in class today. As far the a synergist for the actual movement goes, there isn't one. However, there are muscles there (fibularis longus/ brevis I think) that help stabilize the ankle in dorsiflexion, preventing andy inversion/eversion. Same idea as the rotator cuff.

Thanks guys.
