Subject: PAIN!!!!!
8 months 23 days to my first sprint: I got on a bike for the fist time today... (been on the treadmill and eliptical machine until now)

Holy #@$% my butt hurts. I could only go 2 miles before I had to stop because of the pain.

Guess I will invest in a good pair of padded bike shorts and try out some different saddles.

Is this pain in my @$% something that will subside with time, or just a function of not having the right equipment/set-up?

Regards,

Delonie

The pain will subside in a couple of weeks. Just takes time for your butt to get used to it.

Delonie,

I would give your current saddle and equipment a few weeks for riding before looking for new equipment. Also, once you put in some rides on your current saddle, very slight adjustments can make large differences. The pain should go away (or at least you won't notice it as much) and you will be riding strong shortly. Good luck in training.
