Good effort for the first race of the season and you got a spot prize. The swim was a bit chaotic but think it was a fair bit shorter than it should have been and the hill up to transition was fun.

Cheers mate- my heart sank when you said you thought the swim was a little on the short side!!!! Still loved every minute of it. My first Triathlon so pretty please, but just seeing the winners whizz by made me realise the gulf between elite and me. Well am going to try some of the panasonic tri's might see you around - rob

Are you doing this weekends Tri at Maratai ? it's a really great course and event which should have a good turnout.

There were a number of elite racers (as per the prizegiving) using that race as training for the World Cup which was just on in New Plymouth so you will get a bunch of extremely fast people and then the rest of us out for fun and personal bests.

Hi mate. No not doing this weekends one but plan to do all the rest of them. Are there any other races you can recomend in the North Island? Also any ideas on good bike shops to go to. I bought my bike from Multisport bikes on Barrys point road but apparentley they have closed down. Which is a shame because they were awesome.
Cheers Rob

Hi Rob.

I have only been doing this about a year but can recommend the Panasonic peoples series, I have entered the Tinman at the Mount on Dec 3rd and the half-ironman also at the Mount January 6th.

I recon the best event which is in April down in Rotorua is Xterra (www.xterranz.com) which is a 1k swim, 30k(ish) MTB and then an 11km run. The event is both an individual and teams events and really well run.

Multisport bikes have just moved (or are moving) just a couple of doors up on the same side of the road in the old wind scene building. Apart from them I prefer the Avanti plus stores personally in Mt Eden.
