Pre-race routine:

Race was right after work. Had to speed just to get there in time.
Event warmup:

Got there w/ some time to spare. The Elite race was first, so I was able to get in a little light jogging.

As a sidenote - the elite race was awesome. Winner clocked 4:05.

Comments:

My approximate splits were:

  • 25 = 1:19:00 (79 seconds)
  • 50 = 2:50:40 (90 seconds)

  • 75 = 4:21:80 (92 seconds)
  • 1.0 = 5:38:10 (76 seconds)

    Negative Split.
    What would you do differently?:

My hamstrings were a bit sore from all my marathon training so I held back a bit.
    Post race
    Warm down:

Light jog w/ a fellow runner who as it turns out is a pro 1/2 IM triathlete on the Elite team.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

Currently training for the NYC Marathon.

Had a 7 mile tempo run (7:30 pace), the night before and an 8 mile easy run (9:02 pace) the morning of race day.

    Event comments:

Post race party was AWESOME. DJ, Live Band, Peace a Pizza donated a few hundred pies, Red Stripe donated all the beer. Plenty of water and pretzels too ( But I focused on the pizza and beer)

Course: Flat and fast. No Turns but there was a headwind we had to deal with. There was lots of spectator support along the course, all equipped w/ cowbells and the majority of them were @ the .75 mile mark which provided an extra boost for the final kick.

    Wow, you fly!

Longing for the day I call 8 miles at 9:20 'easy' ('specially before an event....dang!)

    Chris,

I am hoping to break 3:30. An 8 minute mile pace will yield 3:29:45.
