ditto here, I tried 2 or three soft nosed ones, got worse.

Went back to the original that came with the bike, hard, simple and flat, got the seat height correct and problem solved

I've ridden multiple long (140 mi +), single day rides plus used to be a bike messenger years ago  - I've never gotten numb.  A bit sore at the beginning of the season but even that passes in a few rides.  I think it must be a combination of bike set up, saddle and riding technique.  In any event, I don't think you should consider recurring numbness acceptable.

I find the nose down a catch 22. If I put the nose down I find myself pushing myself back into my saddle the whole time. Any suggestions from the more seasoned riders?

I second the notion of putting the nose down a touch.  I used to get that numbness but not so much since I adjusted nose down.

I'm not much of a "get fitted" kinda guy.  I have a pretty good idea of what the geometry should be when I ride and set it up as such.  Then I have tweaked my position many times over until I found what was best for me as far as comfort.  I'll sacrifice a centimeter or two away from my "ideal fit" for comfort any day.

I went with a noseless saddle myself. My butt hurts more now because I used to have a super soft seat but my butt needs to get used to it also. I am on my weaning away from super padded seat.

Here is something.  When you were riding, did you have multiple layers on?  The reason I ask is because I don't go numb or get sore anymore on long rides.  Yesterday, I put on a different pair of tights on under my bike shorts and was having to move every 15 - 20 min because of the numbness.

If you just have one pair on shorts on, then go with what the others are saying.  But if you have multiple layers, they can rub wrong and make it uncomfortable.
