After a few sessions with my gym's master's swim team, I realized that the harder i swim, the more jacked my streamline gets. As a result, by the end of the practice I'm both sloppy and exhausted.

This was magnified when I did an OWS last weekend.

I've been going in this week and just working purely on balance--chest down, side roll etc and doing no distance at all. Anyone done any local TI clinics or had any luck?

I've heard that they can correct your form is as ittle as 10 min.

Anyone?

You are in luck my friend. Loretta, the aquatics director at PLC Olathe, will be doing TI drills for our warm-up next week Tuesday nite at Masters. This will likely continue if we want her to. I have the book, but it's on loan right now. As soon as I get it back, I'll let you borrow it.

When I first started three months ago, I just worked on floating my back for minutes at a time. Got comfortable and move to floating on my chest. Then worked on swimming "pressing my bouy", essentially pushing my chest down into the water so my legs came up. I only use my legs to keep balance, not as propulsion.

I took a TI Clinic this past March in STL. It was well worth it to me. I just started swimming in January and have improved dramatically since the clinic. Mind you, I'm still slow as snot and have a weak kick, but everything seems to be working better.

Its tough when the TI coach deems you an "almost sinker". I'm too dense for my own good...

I haven't had coaching from an official instructor, but I've used the dvd/book/cards and have also received from coaches (in San Francisco) who use TI. I think its helped me a lot.

d

PS, Wasn't there discussion about a TI instructor coming down from St. Louis clinic?

Yeah, Hap Gentry is the TI Coach out in STL. I've passed his info onto Loretta @ Olathe PLC. Its pretty much up to them to get things scheduled. Possibly could be this summer.

I don't belong at PLC anymore so if you hear of Hap Gentry coming to town, please let me know.

I was like you. I started training for my 1st Sprint on my 32nd B-Day, May 21 training for theTopeka Tinman. When I started I bought the TI Freestyle Made Easy DVD. In one week my swim increased tenfold. I made my own drill cards. In about 4 days a had all the drills down. In May I could do about 50 Meters with a horrible form and had to take a breather. Now I am doing about 800 Meters at a time with my 2500 Meter workouts and it keeps getting better. You have to find your rythem and sweet spot.
