I think it would be cool to see the mileage and time totals from all members when they log them into their training logs.

As a group I bet we have some huge numbers.

yes, it would be very cool, maybe put it under the '10 most recent update'...i'll add it to the (growing) list.  maybe we can relate the distances to some times 'ran around the earth' or 'bt members have swam the atlantic 67 times'...any ideas for each sport?

I like the idea. Here are some numbers you could use:

Distance to the Moon: 363,296 km (mean distance at the perigee for last 1000 years)

The farthest distance across the Atlantic occurs between the United States and North Africa at 4,830 km. The shortest distance is between Senegal and Brazil at 2,575 km

The earth's circumference is 24,902 miles at the equator.

The current marathon distance is (26 mi., 385 yds.)

You know what, Ron....that might not be a bad idea....
What I mean is, you could use stats like that in your marketing efforts....

"Did you know BT'ers logged a total of X,XXX miles swimming, X,XXX miles swimming and X,XXX running last year? What are you waiting for? Come join the community at beginnertriathelete.com"

"Beginnertriathletes put 12,532 miles on their bike last month...what did you do? See what all the riding is about and join the community....www.beginnertriathlete.com"

"What's blue and gray and rode hard? The triathletes who hang out on the forum at www.beginnertriathelete.com" (okay, that one is a bit more risque...)

"After logging 2,700 miles running , they may need a new pair of shoes. Come join the triathlon community at beginnertriathete.com (oh, and you can even research new running shoes)"

Teasers and such like that....(sorry, my slushy marketing brain is getting all fired up again....)

I like the marketing idea, I bet that will work well.  It will also push our current members to be sure to put their data in the logs.

Another question about marketing, You have certain sponsors that offer discounts, but they don't really have the site on their sites, can that be par tof it to help them and you out?
