Pre-race routine:

Woke up at 3:30 AM to get ready, got around 6 hours of sleep. Ate a peanunt butter & Jelly Sandwich with OJ took my supplements and drove 45 mins to the race.
Event warmup:

Ran around the transition for about 15 minutes streched.
Swim
  • 00m
  • 750 meters
  • / 100 meters
Comments:

I started and finished the swim too conservative. The Sprint group was not very big. Nice day overall
What would you do differently?:

Go all out on the swim. I think I wasted too much time by being too conservative. I left the water barely breathing hard
Transition 1
  • 00m
Comments:

I finally got the hang of the shoe on the bike. I was pretty fast on this transition and my bike was well placed and close to the mounting area.
What would you do differently?:

Nothing
Bike
  • 00m
  • 12.43 miles
  • 0.00 mile/hr
Comments:

THe first lap was ok I was not speed demon. But Laps 2 and 3 I was flying. I was pretty fast.

Regarding the course it turned out to be a bit dangerous because of very little Police and Volunteers. Cars were all over it got ugly as the day progressed specially with the Olympic distance guys. The car drivers were very rude. I think they need to get better traffic management next time
What would you do differently?:

I felt good on the bike. I think this is getting to be not only my favorite but my best event.
Transition 2
  • 00m
Comments:

I forgot to undo the shoes. I just clipped off and went on to my area.

I put my shoes on got some Gel and an orange and of to the races.
What would you do differently?:

Don't forget to pull the velcro from the shoes before going to the transition.
Run
  • 00m
  • 3.11 miles
  •  min/mile
Comments:

I got major cramps on my calves coming out of T2. I shook them off after the 1st Km. Then I started to get my groove. The last Km I just sprinted all the way to the finish. It felt great
What would you do differently?:

Maybe push myself more. I know I have the stamina...well I'm fiding out that I have the stamina to push harder. I guess I have to just do it.

Post race
Warm down:

Just walked around had some Power ade. And my recovery drink...Waited to the end of the Olympic tri. and Waited for my old coworker Carlos who was doing his first tri...On a mountain bike..ballsy guy!.

What limited your ability to perform faster:

I guess not having enough confidence in my own abilities. I'm finding out I can go faster on the swim and on the run. I think I lost that fear on the bike.

Event comments:

The Race directors need to have better communication and get better cooperation from the city and police department. The race was scheduled to start at 7:00 AM. I got there at 5:45 AM and they were just starting to set up the racks. At that point everyone knew that the race was going to be late.

The race started at 8:00 AM. The most organized part of the race was the swim. After that it felt like...everyone on their own. Police to direct traffic not visible. I did not see an ambulance. They are lucky nothing major happened. They need to solve these issues for next year.

Overall I feel I have improved. I felt better on the bike.

Nice job.  Doesn't sound like a safe race to do next year.
