Run
Comments: Run was good. Was nice to see so many people out there this year. Goal for this run was to not be DFL, to not have the police car follow me in. Goal was met although I was still back there a ways. What would you do differently?: Not psych myself out mentally whenever I run. It's my biggest problem with running. Transition 1
What would you do differently?: Nothing. Bike
Comments: About a mile into the bike, I went offroading for about 25y. My mental effort from the first run was hard to shake off. Got it clear and started thinking about the bike course. Came to the first intersection where a race volunteer and police officer were directing traffic. I thought I was supposed to go straight, but the cop directed me to the left. I thought maybe they changed the course at the last minute. I also started to wonder where all the people I saw ahead of me disappeared to since I hadn't slowed down. 1/2 mile into it, a red pickup pulled up beside me, and asked if I was racing. Said I was, and he told me I should've gone straight. THOUGHT SO. I said a few choice obsenities, turned around and used the anger I was feeling to get back on course. I rode the rest of the course using that anger and felt really good about the bike. What would you do differently?: Not make a wrong turn. Trust my instincts, not the volunteers. :) Transition 2
What would you do differently?: Nothing. Run
Comments: A friend of mine ran this last mile with me as a support effort. She's a doll to do so. I managed to hold my position on the run, although my legs were horribly shaky and I was borderline cramping in my right calf. What would you do differently?: This run, I don't think it was my mental effort causing problems. I think my legs were toast from hammering so hard on the bike. Post race
Warm down: Crossed the finish line and DH was waiting, smiling, with a cold bottle of water for me. Such a sweetie. Walked around a bit, ate a banana, drank a diet pepsi and waited for the awards ceremony to begin. ** PR on this race by 6:42 from last year. What limited your ability to perform faster: Overall lack of consistent training. Event comments: As always, DRC puts on great races. I love the social aspect of all of their events and I love that they're local. Will definitely do this again next year. Last updated: 2007-05-14 12:00 AM

Ate a SoyJoy bar, 2 endurolytes and a bottle of water. Loaded the car, dropped the kids off at a swim clinic, and then headed to the race site. Goals for this race were to not be DFL in the run and to beat last year's time.
None. Too busy catching up on socializing to warm-up.
